PODCAST

NEOYORQUINOS

Co-Creator | Director

Neoyorquinos, a Spanish-language Spotify Original Podcast, celebrates and explores the views of Latin American artists living, surviving, and thriving in New York City.

Neoyorquinos lays bare the contradictory love-hate relationships between the artists and the city. The interviews take us into an eye-opening journey of letdowns and celebrations, of passion and determination, needed to stay and thrive in this city.

Produced by ViceVersa Magazine y Timeline Digital.

Cover Art

Graphic Design | Photography

The Cover Art of Neoyorquinos portraits the grit of New York and its thriving energy. What a better location to show the spirit of our interviewees than the life line of the city: the subway system. And the casting of the hands was one of the most important elements of this cover art. They needed to tell a story of resilience, irreverence, political commitment and creativity, just like the interviewees of the podcast.

I decided to use 35mm analogue photography.

The cover art was displayed throughout the city, at Link NYC kiosks.

I took 35mm analogue photos of our interviewees and the locations they choose for their interviews. These photos were used on social media, website, and group exhibit.

GROUP EXHIBIT

Curator

In Collaboration with ACE Hotel New York, we organized a launch party and group exhibit featuring selected work of four Latin American visual artists who are part of the podcast. Though widely different in their disciplines, Emmanuel Guillén Lozano, Anita Pantin, Yeti Oc, and Rolando Peña, share a unique urge to participate and advocate for social causes through their art.

Gazing through the creative, artistic, and activist lenses of the artists featured in Neoyorquinos, the installation and podcast, allow us to expand our narratives and imagine a more complex and nuanced immigrant experience.

Their pieces were displayed alongside my photographs.
